Sleeping With the Enemy
If you sleep with a snorer, you may feel like you're sleeping with the enemy. Author Tracy Ecclesine Ivie's personal struggle with a "snorer from hell" inspired her to write Why Count Sheep When You Can SLEEP? The book is filled with hundreds of proven sleep solutions from medical experts and ordinary people from around the world.
On Sunday, March 13, the United States will lose an hour of sleep to daylight saving time. Join Ivie the afternoon before in her “10 Tips for a Great Night’s Sleep” workshop at the Hunterdon County Library. Ivie will cover how to wind down before bedtime and prepare the room for better sleep as well as breathing exercises, visualizations and other relaxation techniques.
March 12, Hunterdon County Library, Flemington, the program is free but please reserve a spot, 908.788.1434

Ring Toss
Toss out the old onion ring and bring in the new- - the POTATO RING! Ummm, YUM! We tried this tasty treat at Maritime Parc, the sexy new seafood restaurant on the Hudson. After one bite of the potato ring, we took the chef hostage until he agreed to give us the recipe. We're giving it to you in hopes you'll bail us out of jail.
6 Idaho Potatoes-peeled
2 Tablespoons Butter
½ Cup Heavy Cream
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
3 Eggs
2 Cups Panko Breadcrumbs
Salt and Pepper
Canola Oil for frying
6 Idaho Potatoes-peeled
2 Tablespoons Butter
½ Cup Heavy Cream
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
3 Eggs
2 Cups Panko Breadcrumbs
Salt and Pepper
Canola Oil for frying
Instructions: Place potatoes in a large pot covered with water and place over high
heat. Cook until tender and drain very well.
While potatoes are cooking bring butter and cream to a simmer and reserve. Pass the
potatoes through a ricer and combine with cream/butter. Season with salt and
pepper.
Spread onto a cookie sheet while keeping a thickness of ½ inch. Place sheet in
freezer until potatoes harden. Using a 2 ½ inch cutter, cut the potatoes into
circles then using a 1 inch cutter, cut the circles into rings (reserve the centers
for tater tots following remainder of recipe).Place the flour, egg and breadcrumbs into separate shallow bowls. Coat the rings
(while still frozen) with the flour, shaking off excess, then the egg and finallythe breadcrumbs.
Place them into a fryer set at 350 degrees and cook until golden. If fryer is too
hot the outside will be golden and the inside will still be frozen. Serve
immediately or reserve in a warm oven until ready no more than ½ hour.
Makes approximately 6 based on the size of the potato

Welcome To The Neighborhood

John Knoeppel of Best Buy Eatontown has been answering customer service questions for months without having an actual physical store.
The Customer Solutions Manager launched the new store’s identity on Twitter and soon discovered a new way to do business that still addressed customer needs.
“Social media has been an exciting journey. Our associates are using the web to answer tech question and solve customer issues and we aren't even open yet.”
The electronics superstore (50 Rt 36, Eatontown) finally kicks off its Grand Opening celebration on Friday with a “Women in Technology” event to talk about the latest in gadgets, technology and electronics.
Doors will open officially on the Saturday with a live performance at 2pm by Cartel—the band will also sign copies of their new album. The party continues with the gals from the Jersey Shore Roller Girls (http://jerseyshorerollergirls.net/) and a ShoreFlicks (http://www.shoreflicks.com/) 16ft inflatable screen showing Guitar Hero.
This Best Buy is also already involved in community projects through its @15 program, said Knoeppel, and is running a food drive on the 24th and 25th to support the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
“Even though Best Buy is a large international company, we think locally on a store by store basis because every Best Buy community is different and we need to serve our local customers and cater to their unique needs.”
Best Buy also brings 100 jobs to the area and they are still hiring. Here’s the link to the site: http://stores.bestbuy.com/1895.
The Jersey shore area has a new store, and a great new neighbor. We think you should make them feel welcome!

Stage Fright

Your house has been on the market for 6 months. You lowered the price by $40,000 and are considering dropping it even further. Your home is priced to sell for the current market, so why won't it sell?
The problem: Your house may not be staged to sell. You need to see Vicky Salazar of Lawrenceville, who conquers all stage fright with functional and practical solutions.
Vicky’s Salazar Redesign, LLC (http://www.salazarredesign.com/) is a home staging service for homeowners who are looking to sell or de-clutter. “It gets them unstuck in a very stuck real estate market,” says Vicky.
Vicky uses the owner’s own furnishings and accessories to accent the homes' features and minimize flaws. She claims her proven techniques will attract a buyer within minutes of walking in the door.
The pictures here tell the story; the slightly cluttered and busy bedroom was transformed into a hotel style retreat with neutral colors and a welcoming bottle of wine. Simple and relatively inexpensive changes can make the difference between getting the price you want – as opposed to what you settle for.
“I … like to see peoples’ reactions to the transformation of the home they have lived in for so long with just some simple and inexpensive ideas. Many never thought their homes can look as good,” Vicky says.
If you think your home may qualify for some home staging expertise, but you're not ready to hire a professional, here are some quick tips from Vicky to get started:
De-clutter Inside and Outside: Remove any excess tools/toys etc in front and back yards. Remove excess inside off of counters, cabinets and furniture.
Clean: Sweep and mop all floors for showings. Steam clean carpets before open house. Clear cobwebs from front and back doors.
Repair: Patch holes, repair broken screens and anything that needs fixing.
Neutralize: Remove collectibles, personal pictures and paint over any bold colors.
Enhance: Show off the space in the room or fireplace and architecture.
Already exhausted reading this? Call a pro like Vicky to take charge. Then watch what happens to buyers when the house lights come on, and your home takes center stage.
