What's Cooking?

Third Annual Cooking for Kids: Gourmet Fare from Everywhere!
National and Local Chefs Come Together for Children at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital

Who:   Guest of Honor Lidia Bastianich, beloved TV chef, restaurateur, business owner and best-selling author, will welcome other celebrity chefs including the winner of the Food Network's Chopped, Chef Michael Carrino from Restaurant PassionnĂ© in Montclair; Official Chef to the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games Scott Cutaneo of Restaurant Equus and the Claremont Tavern in Bernardsville; Chef Ryan DePersio of Fascino in Montclair and the newly opened Bar Cara in Bloomfield; and Chef John Benjamin of Restaurant Latour at Crystal Springs in Hamburg, NJ; along with more than 50 other chefs from the metropolitan area who will offer samplings of their signature dishes. Among the guests will be Dina Manzo from Real Housewives of New Jersey; former Giants quarterback Phil Simms; former NBA great Albert King; actor and singer Gianni Russo; and media personalities Lori Stokes and Steve Adubato. Also in attendance will be staff from Carlo’s Bakery, featured in TLC’s Cake Boss.
What: An evening replete with exquisite cuisine, food and wine tastings, assorted brews, and much more.
When: Monday, April 26, 2010 , VIP Reception: 6:00–7:00 p.m., General Admission: 6:30–9:30 p.m.
Where: The Venetian, 546 River Drive, Garfield, NJ
Why: To raise funds for pediatric programs and services at St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital, located at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
This marks the third year of this event, which last year attracted more than 450 guests. There is a fee of $175 for general admission starting at 6:30 p.m., and $250 for an Exclusive VIP Reception, 6:00–7:00 p.m. followed by the full tasting. The event is presented by Nutley Park ShopRite, Inc.

Give the Look... Get the Look

Prom is a magical time for high school students and every girl wants to wear a special dress but not every girl can afford to purchase the gown of her dreams.
The mission of Catherine's Closet,  a non-profit organization founded in 2002, is to collect gently worn dresses from across New Jersey and sell them for just $20.00 to girls in need.  All  proceeds from the sales are used to provide scholarships for students who volunteer with the organization.  To date, over 6,000 girls in New York/New Jersey have benefited from the generosity of Catherine’s Closet, Inc. and over $20,000 has been awarded in scholarships! 
Do you have a dress to donate? Giving the look is made easy-gowns can be dropped off at Bloomingdales in Bridgewater, now through Sunday March 14. 
Then Get the Look on Sunday, April 10, 1 – 5 pm at Bloomingdale's special prom event with a live DJ, the latest prom fashions, accessories, make-up and hair ideas.
